Default Hello All

Hi my names Mike, just found your excellent forum via a post on Skyscraper city [Newcastle] and have spent a couple of hours going through various posts with loads more to read.
During 1950-60s Amble was our main holiday destination as we had a couple of my fathers extended family living up in Gibson St at the time.
Many happy memories of fishing for flatties off the pier, playing on the little shore but most of all listening to the juke box while eating ice cream in the Blue Kettle.

The Blue Kettle was started by R H Charlton who had the milk dairy and also the Pop Inn in the market place in Warkworth. The latter closed several years before the business was bought by John and Florence Angus. The shop that was until recently a gift shop was, under Charlton, and ice cream/ sweetie shop.
