Default Presentations in Amble

In 1919 there was a presentation ceremony to give illuminated addresses to those soldiers who had won military honours. The Morpeth Herald of 5 December 1919, gives an account of a double presentation in the Coquet Hall in respect of Sergeant RRS Martin, DCM, of the RAMC (who we have discussed before) and Pte. Wm. Anderson, MM of the Northumberland Fusiliers.
The Director of Education for the County, Mr Williams, made the presentations, on behalf of the committee of the Amble Heroes Fund. He referred to Pte Anderson as having been in the same battalion as his son and had been with him at Hooge in 1915 when he was wounded. The presentation also referred to Pte Anderson's brother, Company Sergeant Major Anderson, who had been killed and who must be the "G Anderson" on the war memorial.
