Greetings
This is from a newbie who hides as Luransman.
I'm pursuing my family history. There was a family with the name Howey who suffered badly around 1881 in the TB epidemic. One girl, Sarah, survived and married Edward Duncan Richardson. Another, Esther moved away, a long way away, as she and her husband, Alfred Henry Webb, emigrated to Australia. I would be chuffed to hear from anyone who knew Mabel Leslie Richardson and the shop she had in Amble 50 or 60 years ago. |

Welcome newbie, hiding as Luransman......there are a few Howey farming families round the Amble area. Do you know if you are part of the same family?

Thanks:-)
I can track family back to 1800 and there are no Howey's to that level still in the area. My ancestors were farm labourers with a few millers thrown in. Sarah's father worked as a miner when he came to Amble from Felton. Sarah's aunt married a Thomas Rochester and they live in Refuge Cottage near Titlington. Bye for now:-) |
