Fever Hospital
I have often found references to the Fever Hospital in Amble but I'm not sure where it was. The Sanitary Inspector reported on it in 1873:
There was a resident nurse and two rooms for patients on the first floor, one for women and the other for men. Each had one bed and so provided for only two patients. Each room was about 1000 cubic feet. |

Thanks Carle, I've finally found it on a 1920 OS map. It's marked as an isolation hospital and is quite a way along the links...past the Granary (oops Old Storehouse) etc.

Fever hospital.
They certainly weren't going to take any chances were they, it was in a particularly isolated and godforsaken place in those days. The nurse must have had a lonely time of it unless it was only occupied as and when required. They must not have had vandals in those days if this was the case.
