Default Bailiffgate Museum

Just spotted the website for the Museum, seems to be all part of its relaunch. Some nice summaries of coal mining, fishing etc as well as info of what they're selling in their bookshop......The Three Villages for £3.

Memory Boxes.

Interesting way of engaging kids in history. I sent off 6kg of WW1 medals last week to a local authority, these are to be included in "memory boxes" for WW1 that they will be dishing out to the school kids later in the year.

My dad gave them to display a load of painting, decorating and signwriting stuff back in 2003 as I have the list pinned to the noticeboard here. Hope they are still looking after them!

Please feel free to visit Bailiffgate Museum, we are always looking for links. The Family History section will help too. We would welcome any help from members of this forum, please geyt in touch as we are currently working with schools in the area, Amble First, Edwin St. Hipsburn and Shilbottle. We are looking at recording 'memories' with all 3 schools

Jinnan, nice to have Bailiffgate on the site A few years back we went to an exhibition on your first floor with lots of old photographs from Chevington Drift. Are they in your collection or were they only donated for the exhibition, do you know?

Not sure whether the Drift stuff was on loan or not. The Museum is cataloging a lot of the artifacts and it is taking a while. Please feel free to drop in sometime though, I'm sure there will be someone in to help you
