Default David Bartholomew Murrie

Back to how I originally ended up in the Murray/Darling tangle was my search for David Bartholomew Murrie (on the AVL as Murray).

I've had a look at his Royal Naval Division service record on FindmyPast, these are interesting and thank goodness they survived.

He survived the Dardanelles, only being shot in the left shoulder. He was transferred to France and reported missing in 1918. NOK were informed and they forwarded a postcard to his unit sent by David from a prisoner of war camp in Limburg, Germany. He seems to have been moved through at least two other camps; Dulmen in September and Munster in October. He was finally repatriated in December 1918.

I wonder how many other stories like this lie behind the names on the AVL!
