Default Aged Miners Cottages

Interesting article in the Shields Gazette on 31 March 1902. A committee of the aged miners homes scheme for Northumberland met in Newcastle to consider applications for the 10 East Chevington homes newly completed. They had 150 applications and the successful ones ranged in age from 64 to 81. They were, Christopher Todd of Widdrington; Wm Young, Amble; Sample, Radcliffe; Robt Hunter, Choppington; A Guttery, New Hartley; R Gowans, Amble; Robb, Bebside; Robt Henderson, Broomhill; J Taylor, Barrington; J Tweedy, Widdrington.
Wonder how that went down at Chevington.....not a one from there
