Hello
Congratulations to the forum administrator for setting up this wonderful Forum.
It is great to see so many like-minded people interested in similar topics who have a wealth of information to share, either in great detail or just with little snippits. All fodder to the enthusiast!
I have been researching my husband's family history for over 30 years now. He calls himself a true blue Northumbrian (with a smidgeon of Durham & Cumbrian ancestry!), having early roots spreading north to Ancroft, Holy Island, Bamburgh, Chatton, Rock & Rennington, Guyzance and Shilbottle and for the last 100 years, or so, Chevington Drift, West Chevington, and North and South Broomhill. His heritage is linked to the mines and to agriculture and he was the 9th generation (and the last) to go down the mine - working in mines until they were the last.
I would be happy to help anyone with their research or hear from anyone else researching these local names - DUNN, TERNENT, SIMPSON, and SCOTT.
