You are thinking of the place that is now Zecca. It was a cafe/ bakery in the 1950's run by a Miss Richardson then several other people had it as a bakery one being the Bread Bin prior to Zecca staring up.
The premises in question were, in my school time, where the school dentist was located, a Mr Russell, then as stated it became Ambles first health centre for a few years before the present purpose built one was opened.

There is a print on ebay at the minute of a chapel .This must be the one that got pulled down in the 70's . Looks like High Street with the Manse building [now the Dentists] next door.

Thanks Alan J, I know where I am now. I remember the school dentist. Didn't you enter by a side door and up the stairs?

Yes that's the church although it was actually a bit higher than shown on the plan, there were quite a few steps up to the main entrance. The drawing seems to show it at pavement level.
