Default Face the deil

Noticed that Maidens Hall was once called, or is at least referred to in the 18c Warkworth parish register as 'Face the Deil'

What a strange name?

This is noted by Hodgson who places the homestead in East Chevington township for some reason, when it appears to be in West Chevington??, anyway, is Face the Deil = Face the Devil ? if so maybe it suggests more that just ye olde Acklington mob dabbling in witchcraft??
