Default Ferney Bed Colliery

An interesting report from the Newcastle Journal of 10 September 1910:

"An interesting coal trade development has taken place at Amble, from which port, we understand, the first shipment of house coals from the new Ferney Bed Colliery of the Widdrington Coal Co. has just been made. A cargo of steam small coals has also been shipped during the last few days. As the first sod of this colliery was only cut in June last year, it will be seen that unusually good progress has been made. The coal has been found to be of excellent quality, and the shipments from the pit will very materially add to the business done at the port of Amble."
