Robert did indeed live down there, Swarland House isn't on the 1920 map shown but there is a structure in the general vicinity of the wooden house the Beales lived in. There is also a building in the region of the Gents WC mentioned earlier which appears to large for the Gents WC. They could be linked to The Radcliffe Arms as suggested.

I wonder if those properties had cellars? The census has lots of people living there 1881 / 91.

The properties in North View seem to have large allotments on what became Campbell Smiths. His workshop building which was at the junction of North St / North View opposite Salvation Army hut and the footpath down to the Gut was a much newer structure and isn't shown but there is a building closer to the Gut in front of North View. Any idea what this is?

As I remember the only way across the Gut before the new bridge was the stepping stones to the rear of Smiths Garage.

That 'T' shaped building in 'parcel' (field) 23. Must be industrial? It is quite some size.

I've checked the 1896 map and that T shaped building in parcel 23 is not there so construction must have taken place between then and 1920s with some leeway for surveying production and map printing. Someone must know!
