Frank on Bondicar
Picked this card up the other week on evilbay.
Apparently the Norwegian Barque 'Frank' a'cropper on Bondicarr rocks. The printed paper slip of research that came with it does appear to be potentially accurate. The only thing that casts a little doubt for me are the rocks in the foreground. The card has the Acklington postmark dated 24 Feb 09. Sent to Mrs G. Armstrong 14 Stanley Street Blyth. From S. or J. Brown text says: Sorry to hear of you being so poorly. Your cousin Robert Armstrong is at Dr. Morrison's infirmary. Went last Thursday. Ailing since September not operated on yet. Annie staying at Newcastle. J. Brown. This is the ship we have had ashore here. Will write later. |

Are the sails looking battered or are they supposed to be like that?
This is the Frank in another pic: |

Looks to be the same ship, rocks are a good question in the foreground.
Perhaps mixed up with Birling Carr rocks? or it is Amble Cliff House area but ! can't picture rock like that around Bondicarr. |

Wife and I thought it could be Cliff House as well, with the ship on the Pan Rocks, piers just out of picture to the immediate left. |
