Radcliffe Club early 60s
I thought some members might like to see these photos of the club, taken when our dad was steward there. The Leek Show picture shows an interesting special prize which my dad won, along with the boiler. Davy Davies is also pictured on the left, in his role as Club Chairman. The other photo is of the newly furnished Concert Room in all it's glory. I loved the dice and playing card wallpaper just visible on the right.

Second photo
For some reason, I couldn't add both photos, so here is the second one.

Those were the days, all those leek shows and broth Mondays. You dad is instantly recognisable Sleighbelle. I think my dad once won a candlewick bedspread at Amble, but I don't think he could be bothered after that with all the fuss of rearing and then cleaning show leeks.
You're obviously having an old phots day |

Broth Monday
Yes, I've been sharing these with my daughters too. One didn't know what the boiler was for! I explained about washing clothes, but when I told her it was also used for making broth on Leek Mondays, she was greatly amused. This changed to horror when I told her the tale of how a quantity of broth which hadn't been eaten was forgotten and we discovered it trying to make its own way out of the boiler, a bit like The Magic Porridge Pot!
