Default "RAF Eshott" - Great North Fly-In this weekend 15/16th June

(Mods - you can delete this thread if you believe it is advertising or after this weekend once the event is over.)

Ever wanted to walk around part of the former RAF Eshott?

Here's your chance - Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June sees the fifth Great North Fly-In held at Eshott Aerodrome. This is an opportunity to see local recreational aviation at close quarters, and visit an airfield whose purpose was to train fighter pilots during WW2. The aerodrome is open to the public this weekend, with donations going towards "Help For Heroes" and other forces' charities. A range of based and visiting light aircraft, microlights and gliders should be on show, weather permitting (the forecast is better for Sunday). Basic refreshments available on site. Access is via the junction marked "Bockenfield" off the A1 just south of the (southern) Felton junction.

Children should be kept under supervision - this is an active airfield and propellers can kill. Follow all safety notices and directions from officials, but remember to have fun and enjoy your visit!

(I should declare an interest here! I provide photographic services for the organisers.)
