Default Winter '78/79

If memory serves me correctly Whittle was reduced to a skeleton staff due to severe weather, there were snow drifts as high as Smithy's bus trying to get over 'The Beacon' and at Longdyke, no way in from the East. One 'back shift' bus got to Alnwick and turned back, the 03.45 shift bus never came as the diesel was frozen in the tanks! Was anybody actually stuck at the pit?
