Default Interesting crop mark near Eshott

Hello everybody,

This is my first real posting and I am looking forward to your feedback.

You may or may not be aware that, if you use Google Earth, you are able to scroll back about half a dozen different images over the last 15 years or so.

Using this facility, I have noticed a rather distinct "squarish" crop mark in a field between Eshott and Eshott Airfield.

The 2002 and 2009 images show the mark very clearly.

I cannot really see anything in the 2006, 2012 or 2013 images, certainly nothing there if is wasn't already aware of it, maybe a hint of a dark mark in 2012 and maybe a hint of a light mark in 2013 but you need to look at the original resolution (i.e. not the 850 x 521 required by the forum).

Anyway, over to you archaeology experts. Is it a Roman staging post, an iron age enclosure or what? I've no idea but there is certainly something there.

Maybe to do with the airfield?

A bit more information will follow when I have sorted it out properly.

Regards,

Ricardo67
