Default Intro

Hi there everyone. As a new member I,d just like to introduce myself and share a little history. As you can see my membership name is Newburghlad and this is because I was actually born in Newburgh in the year ( wait for it ! ) 1938. My fathers name was Edward ( Ned ) Swan and he was an Electrician in, and here is my problem, ONE of the local collieries. My Mothers name was Barbara and I had a older brother called Leslie and a sister called Nancy all of whome are now deceased. I was 6 months old,so I was told, when moved away from Newburgh to set up home in Lobley Hill,Gateshead. As you might imagine my memories are some-what vague as I was taken back to visit on only two or three occasions, however, one scene I do recollect is that of Bi- planes circling over-head and then diving over the beach a little further South firing off machine guns. Sorry ,need a break, perhaps a drop of Brandy- - - - - - -
Regards,
Newburghlad.

Hi Newburghlad, welcome to the forum. I can definitely believe seeing the RAF in operation at the gunnery range would be quite memorable!

Good to see you on here, have you seen the pictures of Newburgh cottages on the Forsyth Image Collection thread?
