Default Slang word help !

Hi Folks, We often used to hear the expression as deed as a mairk. But what is a mairk? (no idea on spelling)

Now there's a saying I have never heard in years. My Grandfather used to say this and he was from the Drift. There was a few other sayings too , I just cannot think of them at the minute.

My father from Red Row called Starlings this. He fed the birds in the garden and made an elaborate bird table to give the small birds a chance at the food and prevent the Starlings from getting it all.
