Someone posted a request here for info about the Coquet Oil Company Limited.

is he/she still interested in the history?

It became a subsidiary of Petrofina because the owner - a Mr Burgess from memory - who also owned an ironmonger in Wooler - owed Petrofina so much money.

After an audit - following which the assets were substantially written down - in 1967 - the depot caught fire - and everything was written back up again for insurance purposes!!"
