Default Thomas Gray

I was looking for my great uncle of the same name and instead came across another Thomas Gray. Born in Amble, the son of Thomas, in about 1881, and on the 1911 census he is living at Simonside Terrace with his wife Agnes and two children. He is a miner.
In 1900 he joined the Northumberland Fusiliers. Posted to the West Indies in 1902 and then on to South Africa in the summer of the same year, where he served until late 1903 when he was discharged to the reserve. He was promoted sergeant on his posting to the West Indies.
His record is in the Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioners series.

Interesting find. Looks like he was killed at Gallipoli.
New discovery of a missing Amble casualty?

It looks like its him. Not many would have Agnes as a wife. I must admit I only looked on the local memorials for a possible death, but looking on NEWMP can't see him.

Default Thomas Gray

I also have a Great Uncle Thomas Gray, born 1885 in Ellingham to Rachel ( Bottom) and James Gray. Could we be related ?
