Default Amble aerial drone footage

Been looking at someone's drone footage of Amble, on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kfjkj-iBR5I

On the view of the lighter wrecks on the North Side at 4.18 there are rows of circular objects lining the channel on the right of the picture.

(you will probably have to get it to play in HD to see them)

I'm sure it will turn out to be a stupid question but what are they?

Is it an anchor chain from the wreck? Presume you mean the little dots 90 degrees to the channel?

The circular thingies crossing the channel, then running along with it.

There's another row closer to the river as well.
Must be something related to WW2 defences and the RAF base over there??

(also noted a new wreck in that shot[ringed], could be an oldie looking at it. )

edit: I have noticed that wreck in the past, 'J' on this page here:
Never got to it due to the mud. When I went over there (years ago) for that page I got stuck on the way to it and was nearly never heard of again.

I cannot remember the circular objects. Must have walked right through them.

A very industrious digger? Sadly Joe Prady has shuffled off this mortal coil so I don't buy it.

My money is on them being car tyres, but Lord knows why they are there!

The wife's just watched it and agrees - car tyres.

I was thinking concrete pipes on end but they would sink and disappear over time, so I'm in the tyre camp now too.

Why definitely is the question!

Tyres, but why are they placed either side of the stream in a deliberate fashion ?

Great footage, just love aerial views, the reason I got into drone's. Have done quite a few videos myself. Here's one of Widdrington done a few years ago .https://youtu.be/qg8Lck-fyDQ

There was no drone footage when this image was taken circa 1969 I think. I used to cross 'the lines' here from George St to Henderson St where my Grandparents lived. H&S and the application of common sense were much different in those days!http://www.coquetandcoast.co.uk/ambl...&pictureid=520

The tyres are used to catch crabs to use as bait apparently, a lot more tyres are now on the other bank opposite as well.

Default Amble top end circa 1935?

This definitely wasn't taken by a drone circa 1935 we think? https://www.coquetandcoast.co.uk/amb...353478&thumb=1 Better picture attached below.

The photo is on "Britain from Above". If you follow this link you'll find two more photos that were probably taken the same day in 1932 https://britainfromabove.org.uk/en/s...gland&year=all

Its a good site with a lot of Northumberland stuff on it.

Is this bait collecting a commercial enterprise? or just an enthusiastic rod angler?
