Default Military Awards

Just found another Military Medal winner: John George Chapman published in Supplement to the London Gazette 10 December 1918. John had the draper's shop at Red Row but during the 1st War he lived at 77 Swarland Terrace.

His service record has survived as he enlisted November 1915 in the NF but fairly soon afterwards transferred to the West Riding Regiment (Etaples 13 September 1916, joined West Riding 21 September).

He returned to England in 1917 as a result of multiple gunshot wounds but returned to Etaples in February 1918.
There were quite a number of Military Medals awarded to the 5th Bn WR Regiment in this particular Gazette Supplement.
