Default Arthur Young - artist

I've got a picture somewhere painted by Arthur Young, who I believe is related to Youngs of Amble. Can anyone confirm this, or better still elaborate on his work?

Hi thanks for joining the forum and asking about Arthur Young

I have often thought of creating a separate thread for Arthur as there is a lot that can be written about this much loved character and talented artist. A quick answer is that he lived in Albert St but was not from Amble originally (he worked in graphic design I believe in Scotswood) and not related but used the Young family's shop as a gallery, workshop and coffee stop!. His signwriting skills also complemented the painting and decorating business and he worked alongside us for years. I know him from being "always around" from the seventies until he sadly passed away in 1993.
We had many a pleasant trip in his concrete boat "Eriskay" which he kept moored in the river and he was always seen out and about in his later years painting with his easel.I could go on but if you have any other questions let me know....

I knew Arthur for years as a friend of the family. I always remember him having a number of prints left from the 70's of boats coming into the harbour mouth. He 'rediscovered' them during the time Freddy the dolphin was alive. He took the prints and hand painted a dolphin on each of them and sold the lot! Genius! Great guy greatly missed.
