Fascinating Rick. Nice to see the old Dredger "Coquet Mouth" peeking into the picture of the Dock.
I cannot recall the little white building on the links in front of the Caravan site. Toilet block? Oh....and Queen Street was better that way! |

Unfortunately , I cannot remember the way things were back then . I wasn't living in the area . These pictures were taken back in 1973 by my late dad , an amatuer photographer who travelled by motorbike [normally ,with me on pillion] around the North East taking slides like the ones above for a Post Card Company . The films were sent away for processing , the company would pick the best ones and return the rest to my dad . I suppose these ones are the rejects . I have a few left of Blyth , Seahouses ,Beadnell ,Whitley Bay and other places . It's facinating to see how these places have changed over the years .

Samples Garage
Think it was still there in early 1980s as we bought our eldest son a trike from there when he was 3. You can see a digger/JCB inside the shrowroom so it looks likely that it was in process of being demolished.
We used to have the garage along the Wynd late 1970s to 1986 |

Samples garage.
Was demolished to allow Walter Willsons to be built and this was opened by John Connell, then lifeboat coxon, on 26th November 1986. There was and probably still is a plaque to this effect behind the tills now hidden by the tobaco fixtures.
