Default Tosson Mills

I've been doing a bit of family history and came across the "Ashtons" who married into my 4 x great grandfather's family. The patriarch came originally from Cleckheaton in West Yorkshire to manage the mill at Acklington Park. Sometime later the family moved to Tosson where they owned the woollen manufactory there.
The obituary in 1892 for one of the sons refers to Ashton plaids being famous across the north, used for wraps and rugs. They were also patronised by royalty on their visits to stay at Cragside. Their most famous plaid was called "Simonside".
I've never heard of this before and wonder if anyone else might know about the woollen operations in Rothbury?
