Morpeth Herald 23 May 1941: Amble War Weapons Week, a big parade on the links. "Mr W H Gray was parade marshall assisted by Mr R Nicholson. The Home Guard detachment was commanded by Captain W. J. Casey."

It looks like he died in Amble in 1946.
