Advertisement in the Newcastle Journal, 25 September, 1852:
"To be let, the land sale colliery at Brenckburn Priory, late in the occupation of Mr Rankin. The seam of coal is the same as that worked at Newton and Shilbottle.
For particulars, apply to Mr Benton at Brenckburn Priory."
For "Brenckburn" read "Brinkburn", I've no doubt.
