text for William:

PRIVATE W. HARBOTTLE DIES FROM WOUNDS.
We regret to announce the death of another of our young soldiers, the news of which was sent by his captain. We refer to Private William Harbottle who died "Somewhere in France" from his wounds. He was the son of Mr. William Harbottle, of Middleton Street, Amble, who has another son fighting for his country. He like many others of our young men, soon after war was declared, took up arms for his country against the enemy. The deepest sympathy is manifested for his parents in their sad loss. The letter from his officer, Captain N. E. Smail, sent to Private Harbottle's father was as follows:-
"I am very sorry to have to report to you that your son, No. 2414 Private W. Harbottle, No. 1 Company, 7th Northumberland Fusiliers, died of wounds on the 2nd inst. He was shot through the head by a sniper on or about the 30th of May and was conveyed to hospital. I had official intimation that he had died yesterday, and that he had been duly buried. Please accept my sincere sympathy."
