Re Allotment Road, back in the 1960s we used to get to the allotments by crossing the railway line at the bottom of Lindisfarne Road. This would get you into the western end of them but they then stretched down the side of the railway until they were blocked by the railway line running across Percy Street from Broomhill.
But way back before Lindisfarne and Aidan Roads were built, that was where the allotments were.
Allotment Road must be somewhere in the vicinity of the old Central Hall, given that the cart came out onto Percy Street, so I think your hubbie's probably right MAGS.
