I've never come across that painting before, (i had to google Wilson Hepple)
I think he was born too late to paint the castle while it was standing, so perhaps he painted it from the engraving.

Hard to believe that nothing visible remains of this today. This print is from an engraving by Samuel and Nathaniel Buck made in 1728, as far as i know the only image we have of Widdrington Castle...
