Talking Re Broomhill Colliery polis.

I have recollection of a George Caruthers as 'The Colliery Polis'. I can't add any more to that. It is just a name I was 'Threatened with' when my mother told me not to get up to any mischief. As if?

Pettigrew Arms

That is correct for your siting but the Pettica garage was not built until the 1940's. Perhaps, I am not sure, but if the Pettica Bros became owners of The Grey Arms that would be the only connection.

Pettigrew Arms

Just a thought as I have no documentary evidence but, could the Pettigrew Arms have been the forerunner of The Grey Arms, Red Row? Mention of staff suggests an establishment of some considerable...

Question Fernybeds Colliery request.

Interesting. I have to ask, "Was this not part of the Monks/Costain era of Opencast? That, when it ended, was when the A1068 road was laid to bi-pass Widdrington Station and Ferneybeds. Prior to that...

Re North Broomhillmap of 1860 from 'Coquet'.

[QUOTE=Coquet;6500]The earlier 1860s map for North Broomhill:

I found the concrete outside...
