Military Medal R Straker Amble

R. (Robert?) Straker 10 Scott Street Amble a sea going engineer won the Military Medal in WW1 but sadly lost his life in WW2.

Can someone look this up? - May be a good story.

Sgt William Hedley DCM and Medaille Militaire

sergeant Hedley was an Amble man who must have done something special to get these awards especially the medaille militaire from the French authorities.

Charles Johnson bandmaster of Amble, Broomhill and Shilbottle

Charles Johnson was a talented musician - who organised the miners of the district into bands.

I loved the comment about him walking to Broomhill for practice.

Sounds like he and his bands won...
