ww2 army camp helm wood
 

Does anybody know much about this camp? it is on the land iam searching, according to the landowner part of it was a military hospital during the war, it has old barracks whats left of it and also quite a few underground bunkers, if you go slightly south east on the map to the wooded area there is a large ammunition bunker which has been blown up i think, i willtake some photos when i go up there again. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.26.../data=!3m1!1e3

This is next to Eshott Airfield?
If there was a hospital or Army attached I'm not sure but it was the home to 2000 RAF Personnel in WW2.

if you have a look at this page they have a copy of a WW2 plan showing those areas but it's not good enough resolution to read. Its about halfway down that page.

Post us pictures of any finds Jim, RAF or anything else, I for one are fascinated by this stuff :)

hi only found a few 303 shells and an old 1951 army tin mug, i havent really concentrated on the camp yet..do you detect yourself, to Admin?
