I was putting it down to DDay celebrations. Thought maybe everyone had gone to Normandy.

Well, I've been on my hols so I have an excuse, I've been back 4 days now, but still just sitting here with the 1000 yard stare. I will snap out of it at some point, hopefully.

I can always post some WW1 stuff but don't want to turn it into some kind of military forum!

Couple of Photos,The RAF one is of Walter Scott of Amble,I met him while serving in the RAF in Aden(1961),walter was at school with my dad!
The other is my great uncle and aunt ,both from Bamburgh, the wedding photo is dated 1915 ,probably just joined as a recruit,he survived the war although gassed which gave him a strange rasping voice .His cap badge which he gave to me is in the British legion club here in Pattaya (Thailand)

So much coincidence. My wife's father was also Walter Scott from Amble, and we were married in Amble in 1961. Sadly Father-in-law had passed away some 2 years earlier. During WW11 he was in the merchant navy.
