changes to websites

This site - registration is now done by hand by me. No more emails to get blocked by dumb microsoft. If you're not a spammer You should be added within 24h. If I cannot work out if you are a spammer or not then your first post will be moderated. Simples, no more lost members.

I've added a 'SSL certificate' to the Amble and District website. This allows for a secure connection(the little padlock whatnot). Done this as google's search index algorithm now prefers secure sites over unsecure. All the URLs that started http:// now start with https:// To prevent every bookmark and link breaking I've put a redirect from any http request to the new https version . In theory, everything should work just as it did.

ok... 'the other site' appears to have suffered no ill effects in the Google rankings so we will secure this website tomorrow.
Fingers crossed, with a redirect, nothing should look any different. ... apart from... any thread that has images 'hotlinked' (embedded) from a non https website will produce one of those browser popup warnings ' this web page contains content from unsecure sources' or something like that. Don't think there are many such threads, but of course one could be added at any time from now on.
