My Introduction
 

I'm Fred Taylor, born in Amble (Lindisfarne Road) in 1944. Amble Willy was my father's nickname; apparently there were several William Taylors at the time and he was often confused with his relative, Hauxley Willy. When I was five we moved a few miles north to Howick, where my mother Ena (née Burns, from Newcastle) was the head teacher at the school. When Howick school closed we moved to Warkworth (Morwick Road) and mother became head at Alnwick Infants' School. I live in Oxford now but return to the area several times a year and am always interested in news about it. I found this site via my cousin in Australia!
