Acklington: lots of WW2 stories

Morning! Have just released this book which contains numerous chapters on the aircraft and units that were based at RAF Acklington during World War Two. It's one of a series looking at Northumberland as a whole:

However, rather than buy the three volumes individually, there is also a new compilation of the first three:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09MYYYN3J

Both available as eBook, paperback or hardback. The hardback versions are being uploaded as I type so should be available in a day or so. The eBook versions are free to read if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Included in the latter are 152 Squadron's operations using Gladiator biplane fighters over winter 1939/40, 43 Squadron in early 1940, 72 Squadron during the Battle of Britain and 539 Squadron, the Turbinlite unit that used high powered aerial searchlights. Lots of information taken from official records, plenty of photographs. One of the chapters is the history of Boulmer aerodrome, which you can find elsewhere on the Fusilier website - yes, I wrote that...

You're welcome, Jan - I'm pleased you enjoyed it. Also featured in Part 3 (and the compilation volume) is the story of the Danish Gypsy Moth that landed at Red Row during WW2 and the aircraft that crashed into the church at Broomhill.

I know it's a little out of the area, but I also wrote a history of RAF Morpeth (Tranwell aerodrome) if anyone's interested as well:
