Amble and District Buses

Picked up some copies of pics of local buses. They were freely available on the net, I would like to credit and thank the "owners" if applicable, and hope there are no objections to the pictures appearing here.

Good to see the old buses. When we passed the 11+ and headed for Alnwick Duke and Duchess' schools in 1961, there were too many of us for the United service bus so Craiggs got the contract. I don't know how we squeezed on, especially when it was a domestic science day. Home made cooking perched precariously on top of the baskets! Sometimes getting up to the top of Hawk Hill required a couple of goes too:)

I had an aunt who lived in Shilbottle and the bus service to and from there was by Ords.

Smith's on the showground, Craiggs at Radcliffe and one on Holy Island!

Holy Island was obviously one of their mystery tours, although that tended to be Longstaff. End up in Seahpouses for fish and chips!
