Public Rights of Way
 

I was recently having a look around trying to find a decent walking route to enjoy some countryside while I was away from Amble, but every public right of way that I sought out had been ploughed up, or otherwise made unuseable/inaccessible by the farmers. This was all the paths I looked at near Bilton and down to Low Buston.

Except for Amble, could you tell me the public rights of way you know of that are actual useable walking paths in the coquet and coast area? Plus do you know any that are suitable for a standard mobility scooter to use i.e. a flat path that may also be tarmaced?

I've walked most of them, a good pair of walking shoes and the ability to hop over fences is to be expected around there, its all part of the experience and attraction of little used more remote paths.

The first that springs to mind is the riverside path at Rothbury, starting from the bridge, opposite Tomlinsons Bunkhouse and westward (upstream) to the where the old golf course building was, and onwards possibly towards the Lady`s Bridge. It`s quite a narrow path, but wide enough for a mobility scooter - and it`s tarmaced, with a stone chipping overlay. Level most of the way but some incline after the golf club building (other side of river) and there`a wooden gate at this point too.
