Acklington quarry

I am resident in Acklington village, and I am looking into the history of the quarry in Acklington.
are there any former RAF service men/women out there with any info of the disposal of RAF equipment and/or waste being disposed of into said quarry????

please let me know if anyone has any info regarding this topic

warm regards

Interesting thought - The RAF might have helped fill the quarry in as that area has the RAF Houses built on it I think? Churchill Way etc?

Has someone dug up some aircraft parts in their back garden? :D

The quarry marked near Coal Houses Farm would have been dug out for the coal road underpass?

I picked up on evilbay the other day a set of Lease documents from that Alnwick solicitors office for the quarry at Brainshaugh. This was working the Acklington dyke stone just as it crosses the Coquet. The same Dyke as the quarry at Acklington, which of course give the dyke its name. The Dyke itself can be traced to the Western Isles of Scotland, so no doubt there are a few more quarries in this structure!

Deeds are 1897.

Still a big, elongated hole on the site today!
