Northumberland Ward Divisions 1877

Anyone got a map of the historic 'wards' for Northumberland?
We come across 'wards' regularly when do a bit of genealogy but who has the maps showing boundaries?? This is in an old (1877) book on the Northumberland Militia I'm having a look at, need a map to go with it :):

Got mixed feelings as I'm reading about the Militia. The Militia and Yeomanry were the preferred weapon of the Mine/landowners for giving the miners a good kicking as required weren't they. :(

Anyway, back on topic - would that list be complete then for Northumberland? - Castle, Morpeth, Tindale, Glendale, Bamborough (Bamburgh), Coquetdale, and Redesdale Wards.

According to the "History of Parliament the House of Commons" the wards were Bamburgh, Castle, Ccoquetdale, Glendale, Morpeth and Tynedale. No mention of Redesdale.
There were also the detached Durham districts: Bedlingtonshire, Norhamshire and Islandshire.

If I remember correctly, Mackenzie's History is broken down by ward. I haven't got my copy with me but it is a free ebook so I'll have a look.

Yep Mackenzie has the same. Redesdale is part of Tindale Ward. This is all early 1800s so maybe Redesdale was spun out later.

The Redesdale Ward does look an oddity anyway - just producing one horse?

All of the others would have been reived by the Tindale boys :D

Poor Redesdalers :D :D

Just for future reference;
"History, topography, and directory of Northumberland, comprising a general survey of the county, and a history of the town and county of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, with separate historical, statistical, and descriptive sketches of the boroughs of Gateshead and Berwick-upon-Tweed, and all the towns ... wards, and manors. To which is subjoined a list of the seats of the nobility and gentry" (1855):

Castle Ward, page 428
Morpeth Ward, page 706 (East Division includes Warkworth Parish; 9 Horse and 20 Foot from above!)
Tindale Ward, page 762
Glendale Ward, page 675
Bamborough Ward, page 559
Coquetdale Ward, page 587
Redesdale Ward, no mention in 1855

And the prevously detached parts of Durham you mention:
Islandshire, page 900
Bedlingtonshire, page 895
Norhamshire, page 931
Counties (Detached Parts) Act 1844 (7 & 8 Vict. c. 61) brought these into Northumberland.

Still no map.

You want a map?
Go to http://maps.familysearch.org and click on Northumberland and then "Hundreds", lovely map of the Wards.

Yes that's the thing I'm after, but they seem to have included some subdivisions in the wards in the same boundary colour just to confuse me? (doesn't take much doing)

I did find a map of 'Durham in Northumberland': 1820 or 1822, yellow bits:

Actually that map works ok as you can click the subdivisions and it tells you which ward they are in.
