Molly Baldwin

My Grandmother spoke a lot in the past about Molly Baldwin. Apparently she had something to do with pantomimes in Amble. Does anyone know anything more about her? Unfortunately I'm unable to ask my Grandmother more questions as she has dementia, so any help would be great.

Thank you!

Molly Baldwin.

Was she Baldwin or Bradford?
Prehaps my brain cells are confusing her with someone else, but she was certainly the lady my own late mother was involved with performing in shows at the parish hall in dovecote street, and also the Amble carnivals,
You dont mention your grandma having photos of any of these events, but I
have a few which may help.
Let me know,
George Gray.

Thank you!

No, my Grandmother does not have any photos of Molly or the pantomimes, but I would love to see them. My Grandmother always spoke of her and to put a face to a name would be great!

Ref the Baldwin/ Bradford saga, I think the Baldwin's were the people who organised plays and other events in the 1930's or thereabouts. I believe they had some connection with the Coquet Hall which was the cinema then.
Molly Bradford, this was her maiden name, was one of the organisers, who were mainly Women's Institute members, of the late 40's into the 50's carnivals which were usually held at the time of the Amble "feast" which was in August. Molly Bradford's married name was Waterton and she lived in Ivy Street before moving to the midlands with her husband when the local pits were closing.

Hi. Check out my post “Amble Congregational Church Sunday School scholars concert.” There are two photos and a list of performers along with reference to “Mrs Coxon (better known as Molly Baldwin).”

There was a Mrs Coxon who gave piano lessons, she taught my sister in the late 1940s early 50s.

My Grandmother did mention something about Molly giving piano lessons. Thank you so much to everyone for your help. You've come up trumps again!
