Default RAF Boulmer history (the airfield, not the helicopter base)

Thought I'd post scans of an article I wrote back in 2004 about the history of Boulmer Airfield. Hopefully the scans are legible....

If anyone's having difficulty reading it I can probably re-size the images a wee bit. Don't have any wartime pictures from the airfield, though - there are very few shots taken at the parent unit across at Eshott too.

I can manage to read it, interesting stuff, Graeme. Have you any photos of the landmarks you describe in the article?

We did get permission to type out a clearer copy of the RAF Boulmer History for the site which I did in January. I struggled with creating a jpeg of the plan from the image above so it all went on the back burner.

Had another look a this today and finished the plan at long last, and it's now up here:

hopefully I've not goofed anything up.

Cool Re RAF Boulmer airfield

I don't know if anyone has tried this but I'd be surprised if not. Google Earth shows the whole outline of the airfield, including runways and taxiways.
Hope this is of assistance to those outside the area who cannot otherwise have a local tour.

I've corrected a few typos in the transcript, it reads better now.

No - to mention anything, I'd be nitpicking....

I really should go back again and see what it is like 10 years after I wrote that. Thanks for putting it up on the site, hopefully everyone enjoys reading it.
