Default Blackwood street

Hi, thanks for letting me join.
I shall be moving to Amble in the new year and am interested in a few bits of background on Blackwood street.
It looks to me that it was built apx 1901 after the land was sold by Robert Green McInnes to builders (such as John Bald Storey?).
Do we know if it was all built by the same firm? Do we know when the houses got their front gardens and when the road was adopted?

Any pointers appreciated.
Cheers

We had various relatives that lived on Blackwood St - William Smailes was living at No 8 when he was killed in a mining accident in 1915 as mentioned in previous posts. I could point you in the direction of the 1911 census & the 1939 register if you are interested. I was born at 51 Gordon St at the bottom of Blackwood St in 1958.
Gordon.
