Default Artillery Shells

This is a good one from the Evening Chronicle of 6 September 1915:
"George Henry Richardson, a machine-man employed at No. 12 shell shop, Delaval, was charged at Newcastle Police Court, with having stolen one 6lb. and two 3lb. projectiles......
Detective Sergeant Frost said that, in consequence of inquiries, he charged the accused with having stolen the projectiles. Accused said, "I gave one to Mr White, Wellwood Arms, Amble, and my sister may have two." Witness had recovered the 6lb projectile at the Wellwood Arms, Amble, the other two from the accused's sister, Mrs Smail, at Amble."

That might have blown a bit of a hole in the Wellwood
