Default name the people!Old photos

Here are two photos from the 1940s.The sunday school group was taken outside the Congregational church. The swimmers ,well I think there are clues as to which beach this !I am the boy on the far left of the row of five. The swimmers has already been copyed onto one of the CDs that are for sale of old Amble but it was not a very good copy!!This one from the original!

Hi Brownknees I did put on the other site the swimmers photo you sent me:

http://www.fusilier.co.uk/old_photos...amble_1947.htm

some got identified.

Now that church group is interesting. you have shown me that one before but in not as good quality. - I forget - is the congregational church the one on Bede Street?

And that Amble CD being sold by the post office - they have more of your images and mine from the Amble and District site loaded on there without permission too.

So , someone has been stealing images ? Dont like to hear of that and would annoy me too.I used to have a website many years ago with images from all over the area , Blyth ,Tynemouth ,Cullercoats ,Whitley Bay , Amble , Warkworth ,SeaHouses , taken in the early 70's by my dad . I had to put the words copywrite across the bottom of the picture , it spoilt the image but I did'nt want anyone to 'nick' the images .You should say something ,after all there making money out of them .

Definitely not nice, and does have ramifications for both parties, which don't go away. Try copying Getty images material without permission - expect a $1600 dollar demand to land on your doormat!

Just noticed on your sister site , there is no warning about using contents without owners permission or that the photos are copywrited . Maybe you should add a line or 2 regarding this .

Might add something to make it clearer. Although in law copyright still exists, warning, or copyright symbol or not.

Looking on the bright side Rick, you might be able to post some of you 70's Amble/Warkworth photos on here, at least it will be restricted to the viewing of those that have signed up!

Ok , I will . I'll upload the Amble area ones . They were re-sized to 640x480 for my old site .This also restricts there use too.

Great stuff, look forward to seeing them!

Think this is the church corresponding to the group in the first photograph?

St Mark's United Reformed Church, ex Congregational Church.

Names frm l to r.

John Hume, Audrey Hume, Sylvia Hume, Heather Carmichael,
and possibly Dorothy Hume. They all shared the Windsor Terrace and Percy Street back lane.

Default Mystery Lady-Baston

I had a friend in the 1950s called Sandra Baston, she was born about 1951. Her father was Alfie Baston and the family lived in the farm cottages at Gloster Hill.

I think that Alfie's mother was Miller Dobson's wife, that is how I got to know them. Miller and his wife Annie? lived next door to us in Melrose Gardens. We were there 1950 to 1958, it was a brand new house then.
