Gloster Hill Tudor House
There is very little of Amble pre- 1800's so I thought this may be of interest.
At Dunstan Hall near Craster, the panelling around the fireplace is reputed to be of Tudor origin from Shawdonhill Hill House but various fireplaces, windows and roof trusses are from the old Tudor house at Gloster Hill. The house stood in what is now the front garden of the current farmhouse at Gloster Hill, and was demolished in the 1930s, its outline can still be seen in the grass, especially during dry weather. More information from a visit today, the architect of Dunstan Hall's refurb in 1939, very conveniently left notes on what had been reused. Pictures attached of fireplaces, roof trusses and windows that spent 400 years over seeing the Coquet from Gloster Hill.
