Anyway, here is one of our Great War Amble soldiers, Robert Carse Gair. The cap badges look similar to the Northumberland Fusiliers, but it is in fact the badge of the Royal Fusiliers. (Although Robert is missing his)
He is on the
absent voters list as 24th Battalion Royal Fusiliers. This was one of two Sportsman's 'pals' battalions, made up from cricketers, footballers etc.
