Remember this 1980ish? The base of the stern/engine room is all that is left on the beach, opposite the golf club.Thank goodness the 1000 tonnes of turkey feed has gone. Story I heard was that it had anchored off Alnmouth with engine trouble, but subsequently dragged its anchor and came ashore due to a nor-easterly gale.
It was broken up on the beach and carted away, the wood sleepers on the beach walkway in the dunes down from the car park were put in to make the salvage easier and never removed.
